Enchanting experiences at Universal Studios this Chinese New Year

New live shows, character meet-and-greets, a festive dragon dance, and other highlights.

It’s a joyous celebration of the Year of the Dragon over at Universal Studios Singapore. A new live show featuring characters from Kung Fu Panda, illuminated lanterns based on popular DreamWorks Animation characters, a festive dragon dance – plenty of exciting experiences await through February 25. Add in character meet-and-greets and a cherry blossom-lined street, and you know it’s a Chinese New Year that everyone will thoroughly enjoy.

Be enthralled by a live show featuring Po

Join everyone’s favourite kung fu fighting panda Po as he embarks on a thrilling quest to find the mysterious Dragon of Dreams. When paired with Master Tigress, a series of flashy kung fu moves ensues – this action-packed live show is bound to enthral both kids and adults alike. Hang around in between show timings to join in a meet-and-greet with Po and Master Tigress.

Admire a display of DreamWorks-themed lunar lanterns

Make your way to DreamWorks Lunar Light Up at Soundstage28 and experience colourful lanterns inspired by animated films such as How To Train Your Dragon, Madagascar, and Kung Fu Panda 4, which will be in theatres from March 7 onwards. You’ll see some familiar faces, with the likes of Po, Toothless, and the comical penguins from Madagascar.

Ring in the new year with the Dragon of Destiny show

Catch the Dragon of Destiny show at the New York Public Library, where there’ll be a festive dragon dance to usher in the Year of the Dragon. Other favourite characters will also make an appearance, such as Illumination’s Minions and Madagascar’s Alex, King Julien, and Gloria.

Keep a lookout for more festive fun: many iconic characters w​​ill also be dressed in auspicious outfits from head to toe. Snap a selfie with Illumination’s Minions or DreamWorks Animation characters like Shrek, Princess Fiona, and Kitty Softpaws, as well as Alex, King Julien, Gloria from Madagascar and more.

Universal Studios Singapore has also gone the extra mile in keeping things festive, with photo-worthy elements over at the Hollywood and New York zones featuring cherry blossom trees and red lanterns. You can also try festive fare from restaurants such as Mel’s Drive in, which will be serving Mel’s Five Blessings burger set, and Loui’s NY Pizza Parlor, which has a special Bags of Fortune Pizza. There will also be Chinese New Year delights from the carts peppered all around.

Head down and see for yourself Universal Studios Singapore’s festive celebration of the Year of the Dragon with regular admission. The festive package starts from $98 for each adult and $78 for each child. From now till February 25, each ticket comes with a $5 shopping voucher and a Chinese New Year Combo Meal.
