Here's a National Day party for the cool kids – and no, it's not too late to celebrate all things Singapore. Trifecta, the surf-snow-skate lifestyle zone in Somerset, is back with a National Day edition of its Backyard Sessions series. This time, it spotlights homegrown indie, pop, and emo artists to soundtrack the party.
Skate over to Trifecta's skate bowl from 6pm to 10pm on August 17 for a full line-up of bangin' tunes. Get fired up with headlining acts Forests, a local emo band with the honour of being the only Asian band featured on Vulture's list of 100 Greatest Emo Songs of All Time. Another headliner is Weish, a multi-disciplinary and genre-crossing talent who's lit up stages at St. Jerome's Laneway Festival, BIGSOUND Australia, Java Soundsfair Jakarta, and other international stages.
Enjoy more great talent with Cashew Chemists—these boys have matured gracefully since their debut way back in 2012, but their melodies are no less dreamy—and Pleasantry, a quintet with lush instrumentation and lyricism that befits their name.
If you're an emo teen (or an adult keen to relive your sweet sixteen days), stick around for EmoNightSG's alternative rock party from 10pm to 1am. This portion of the night requires a $10 ticket, which entitles you to a complimentary Tiger Beer.
Just for this National Day edition, Wicked Good will be taking over the Trifecta kitchen with its indulgent double cheeseburgers, fried chicken sandwiches, and other diner classics. Yeast Side is a permanent outpost at Trifecta, but this time, it's dishing out event-exclusive pizzas, an all-day brunch menu, and crispy sides.
