The Woodleigh Mall: Our guide to the new family-friendly mall

Where to eat and what to do at Woodleigh Mall. Written by Vianne Chia.

We recently paid a visit to the newly opened Woodleigh Mall to see what it had to offer. The wide range of food options stood out most to us – foodies will be glad to know that dining options abound, including some rare finds and new concepts for several restaurants and food stalls. Although we felt that retail options are somewhat lacking (for now), the mall does make up for it in a wide variety of food options and kids’ activities like enrichment centres and an indoor playground. Read on for our guide to the best food finds, places to shop, and things to do in the mall.

What to eat

Food Republic

At their latest outlet in Woodleigh Mall, Food Republic (#B1-09/10) now offers their first ever kids’ menu, with items starting from a very reasonable $2.50. The items available on the kids’ menu accommodate better to kids’ tastes, which means less instances of food being refused by children. If your kids need an added incentive (or distraction) to eat their food, an exclusive colouring set will be given out with every purchase of a kids’ meal. For everyone else, a wide variety of food options – 12 food stalls in total – are available, from King Grouper Fish Soup and Fortunate Dim Sum to Thye Hong Hokkien Mee, Guan Chee HK Roast and Lam’s Noodle & Salt Baked Chicken.

Beans.factory

Beans.factory (B1-K43/K44) is known for its Taiwanese-style dessert bowls – customers can mix and match bases like soy beancurd, aiyu jelly, and shaved ice with a wide variety of toppings. This outlet is the popular Malaysian chain’s second outlet in Singapore (the first one is in Tanjong Pagar).

Veganburg

Vegans needn’t feel excluded from the dining options. At Veganburg (#01-37), everyone can indulge in meat-free, plant-based burgers – think flavours like smoky BBQ and chargrilled satay – and desserts such as cookies, brownies, and cakes.

What to drink

Bubble Tea

There's a plethora of bubble tea options for bubble tea lovers. In addition to the usual Koi (#01-37), Chicha Sanchen (#01-32), Mr Coconut (B1-K27), and I Love Taimei (B1-K32), there are also less common finds like Hollin (#01-56), known for their handmade flavoured pearls and their series of rock salt macchiato drinks.

Coffee

Though there’s always the ubiquitous Starbucks, Woodleigh also has many great alternatives. Get your caffeine fix at Olla Specialty Coffee (#01-55)–only the cafe’s second outlet after their flagship at Sunset Way, they’re beloved for their waffles and for serving consistently good coffee (made using beans from Nylon Coffee Roasters). You can also go to Tiong Hoe Specialty Coffee (located within Fairprice Finest), where they roast their own beans and continue to serve coffee at relatively lower prices.

Where to shop for groceries

Fairprice Finest

Buy groceries at any time of the day (and night) at the 24-hour Fairprice Finest (B1-32/33). There’s also a cafe – The Grocer Cafe (with coffee from Tiong Hoe Specialty Coffee and bakes from Bakehaus) – and bar within the supermarket, as well as-ready-to eat seafood, meat, sushi, and bento counters, much like those found in the VivoCity Fairprice Xtra. You’ll be able to pick out the cuts you want, which will then be cooked for you on the spot.

Surrey Hills

If you want to go the gourmet route, Australian-inspired specialty grocer Surrey Hills, known for their fresh produce and gourmet Australian products, will also be opening an outlet in the mall soon. Either way, you’ll have plenty of options to get your daily essentials.

Kids' activities

Kiztopia

Though there are quite a number of enrichment centres in Woodleigh Mall, it’s not all work and no play for the kids. The mall is also home to an underwater-themed Kiztopia indoor playground (#01-50/51), which features a climbing wall, trampolines, mega ball pits, and slides.

The Green Party

For gifts and toys, there’s also The Green Party (#01-46/47). Kids will love the variety of toys (including adorable soft toys), stationery, trinkets, accessories, and more.
