It’s been a stressful and confusing year but perhaps the silver lining lies in a collective rethink of what truly matters in life. Many have taken to slow, mindful activities like yoga, pottery or painting – but why not try your hand at meditation too? The practice teaches you how to be fully present, aware and non-judgemental of your thoughts and feelings, and is known to promote relaxation and clarity. All you need is a chair, cushion or even the floor, and some guidance from the best mindfulness organisations in Singapore.

At its cosy and intimate third floor event space, The Moon holds astrologically themed moon meditation classes ($20). Learn about the significance of the lunar cycle and drift away during a guided creative visualisation and meditation session. To activate more of your senses, consider Gong with the Moon ($20), a sound meditation class that is said to restore your energy fields, rebalance your mind and body, and relieve stress. Each class accepts 12 to 15 participants on a first-come-first-served basis, so keep an eye on the events calendar on its official website.

The Art of Living Foundation

The Art of Living Foundation was founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, an Indian spiritual leader with a vision for a stress and violence-free society. It’s no wonder then that the foundation offers a slew of workshops to promote wisdom, mindfulness and connection. Take The Happiness Program, a three-day workshop based around a cyclical breathing technique combined with yoga and meditation exercises to get yourself out of a rut. If you find it a chore to empty your mind, The Art of Living Foundation also has standalone courses in Sahaj Samadhi, a mantra-based meditation that favours effortless repetition of chants over deep concentration exercises.
