Ring in the new year with spectacular fireworks and immersive live entertainment at Star Island, which is returning after a two-year hiatus. Expect 80 minutes of dazzling sound and colour on December 31 at The Float @ Marina Bay, with a special appearance by none other than DJ Hello Kitty on the decks.
This year's Star Island follows the theme of LIFE – Beyond The Time. Meant as a futuristic take on Japan's Hanabi (fireworks) summer tradition, it will feature an immersive soundtrack and a new storyline about space and time.
The highlight, of course, is the fireworks display. Marvel at the 'Gradation Shell' fireworks – specially designed with Singapore in mind, its colours shift and fade from red to white. Witness, for the first time outside Japan, 10 special fireworks bursts that were awarded the 'Prime Minister's Award' at Japan's Omagari Fireworks Competition. As ticket holders, you're guaranteed the best seats in the house to watch these pyrotechnics bloom.

If you love Sanrio, then come early to catch the appearance of these adorable characters before the main show. This is when DJ Hello Kitty will be helming the decks for a thumping pre-show gig.
This year's Star Island will also be running a free prequel event from December 25 to 30. Come down to Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza to take part in family-friendly activities, buy exclusive DJ Hello Kitty merchandise at a Sanrio Character pop-up store, and snag a drink at the Penfolds and Jim Beam High Ball booths (JCB cardholders get one drink for free).
