Even though it’s easy to take photos on your phone, nothing beats having a physical photo strip to paste into your bullet journal or even to leave in a box filled with photographs that you sift through once a year. Photo booths have been on the rise in Singapore, but Solace Studios takes it up a notch, featuring nine different rooms spanning over two levels at their new Haji Lane outlet.
The first level has five classic rooms with different coloured backgrounds, while the second level consists of four rooms that allow you to take pictures from a low angle or with a fisheye lens. The two fisheye lens rooms are decorated differently as well, to provide more options for visitors. One is decorated to look like the interior of an elevator, while the other has a simple but forever trendy chequered floor for the ultimate Y2K aesthetic.
Like other photo booths, Solace Studios also has a brightly lit vanity area complete with large mirrors, hair dryers, and straighteners to ensure you look perfect in your photos. Both floors also feature a props area, with the first floor equipped with cute Sanrio headbands and hats while the second floor’s props area contains Y2K-themed items such as digital cameras and matrix sunglasses. The studio also has a small area containing Sharpies of various colours for you to decorate your photo strip and sleeves you can take to protect your precious photos. Be sure to check out Solace Studios’ Instagram, as the studio frequently collaborates with local artists to produce limited-edition photo strip designs.
