Time Out says

With a central borrowing library, reference library and a digital library in tow, National Library aims to be more than just a place for book-reading. Showered with architectural awards before it had even opened, the new building (a replacement for the old National Library on Stamford Road) is designed as two towers, linked by walkways and walled almost entirely with glass. The spacious reference section and the study rooms on the upper floors offer great views across the city. There are some small exhibition spaces, and it also houses the Drama Centre.

Untold Stories: Four Singapore Artists’ Quest for Inspiration in Bali 1952

The Untold Stories: Four Singapore Artists’ Quest for Inspiration in Bali 1952 exhibition at the National Library takes a fascinating look at the journey of Liu Kang, Chen Chong Swee, Cheong Soo Pieng, and Chen Wen Hsi to Bali and Java. This trip in 1952 had a lasting impact on Singapore’s art scene, and the exhibition features over 1,000 of Liu Kang’s photos, 31 original artworks, and a range of archival materials. Visitors can dive into three main sections – Imagining Bali, Experiencing Bali, and The Bali Legacy – each offering a unique glimpse into the artists’ experiences and creative processes. Happening till August 3, the exhibition also has a satellite display at regional libraries, bringing the story to a wider audience. There will also be monthly talks, children’s workshops, and guided tours.

Singapore Card Show

Some collect broken hearts, others collect cards. If you belong to the latter group (good for you), the Singapore Card Show 2025 is where you’ll meet fellow card-collecting enthusiasts. The event takes place at OTC Café at the National Library Building and features local vendors selling trading card games, sports cards, and figurines at a fraction of the original price. General admission to the event is free, but those who’d like to get first dibs on the best deals can purchase the Early Access VIP Pass ($30 for 3 days) for early entry one hour in advance.
