The NDP 2021 Show is set to take off this Saturday at The Float @ Marina Bay with spectacular performances by local artistes, schools and organisations. If you weren't eligible for a seat at the in-person show (that's reserved for pandemic frontliners and essential workers) – no worries, as this year's parade was designed to be viewed from home with multimedia and television-exclusive special effects and fully animated films interspersed with live performances.
Kicking off at 6.05pm on August 21, the NDP 2021 Show features four acts that tell the story of Singapore's aspirations, struggles, strength and unity. Expect colourful performances streamed from the floating platform, alongside pre-recorded shows filmed at four satellite sites, including Jewel Changi Airport and Marina Barrage. For the first time ever, locally-produced animated films will also be featured, evoking nostalgia which historical moments and scenes from the past.
Get ready to sing along with the NDP 2021 theme song, titled The Road Ahead, performed by singers Linying, Sezairi Sezali, Shabir Tabare Alam and Shye-Anne Brown. Two other original NDP songs, Breathing City and Spirits Anew, including renditions of familiar pop songs and national day numbers will also be performed by the likes of Inch Chua, Alemay Fernandez and Benjamin Kheng.
Also watch out for the traditional parade by the Colours Party, together with the Military and Home Team supporting contingents, who will be joined virtually by 9 youth uniformed and 12 civilian contingents. The Aerial Display and 21-gun salute are sure to wow – and of course, what's NDP without some bombastic fireworks to end off the show?
Show your national pride and tune in to the live show on free-to-air channels or NDPeeps' Facebook and social media pages. Happy 56th birthday, Singapore!
