Open-air cinemas aren’t new, but here’s a tidbit: quarry coolies and Pulau Ubin residents used to enjoy outdoor movie screenings in their downtime and as a form of communal bonding. And the Singapore HeritageFest is bringing it back. A ‘wayang stage’ on the isle is set to screen a new movie by local filmmaker Royston Tan as well as Dahdi, a short by Kirsten Tan. Don’t forget to pack a picnic.
