Shiver me timbers – Resorts World Sentosa's Maritime Experiential Museum is closing permanently on March 2 to make way for a major facelift. Since 2011, the museum has taken a crew of curious sailors on an educational voyage with well-known seafarers like Marco Polo and Sang Nila Utama, learning all there is to know about the Maritime Silk Route. If you haven't set foot in this interactive museum, there's still time.
From now until March 2, sink into the rich trade history with 15 thematic galleries featuring the life-sized Jewel of Muscat, a ship built like a 9th century Arabian Dhow. Have a go at tying the classic mariners' knots at the Learning To Navigate chamber, an interactive section modelled after a ship’s lower deck. Don't miss the typhoon theatre's 4D show of a ship navigating a tumultuous storm.
Along with the Crane Dance, a light and water show that displays the crane’s graceful courtship ritual every day at 8pm at the Waterfront, the Maritime Experiential Museum wraps up for a new Waterfront Lifestyle Complex. The new addition is set to house two hotels, all-day and all-night dining and lifestyle experiences, and a public attraction that replaces the Crane Dance. In the day, the vibrant attraction will host festivals and thematic events, and come night time, it will feature a nightly seafront show to dazzle the crowds. Hurry and visit the Maritime Experiential Museum and catch the Crane Dance before they make their final bow on March 2.
