The Indian New Year is one of the most important festivals observed by various Indian sub-ethnic communities in Singapore. Tamil families celebrate Puthandu; the Sikh community observes Vaisakhi; and the Malayalee, Telugu and Bengali communities observe Vishu, Ugadi and Pohela Baishakh. To mark this significant time of the year, the Indian Heritage Centre is going all out with whimsical art installations, live sweet and craft stations, sweet tasting guided trails, culinary demonstrations by celebrity chefs, kids storytelling with thematic performances, and more. What better way to revel in the sweet traditions of Singapore's Indian communities while ringing in the new year?
