Not many people know this, but Singapore's streetscape mimics Autumn annually thanks to the presence of Ketapang Trees (or 'Sea Almond Trees'). These coastal trees are native to Singapore and have leaves that turn from dark red to yellow before shedding. After shedding, the leaves grow back, forming purple-hued foliage.
The result? Crimson sea almond trees and golden leaf showers that can be found at East Coast Park, Pasir Ris Park, along the Central Expressway (CTE) between Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 to Braddell Road, and more. In the past years, this typically happens from October to December – so keep your eyes peeled whenever you're out in these areas.
