Nostalgia takes centre stage this year at Gardens by the Bay’s Mid-Autumn Festival. The theme, ‘Celebrations,’ is inspired by childhood memories and features nine intricately designed lanterns reflecting aspects of Singapore’s past – think the iconic Dragon and Pelican playgrounds. This year’s celebration marks the first collaboration between the festival and beloved local illustrator Ah Guo, also known as Lee Kow Fong. Known for his whimsical art style, Ah Guo has designed a special lantern that will be floating on the waters of Dragonfly Lake.
In addition to enjoying the lantern displays, you can also participate in cultural performances and workshops, and try a variety of foods and carnival games. Best of all, visitors to this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival can marvel at the spectacular 44 metre wide Flower Carpet at Supertree Grove. Also in theme, this display contains more than 75,000 colourful chrysanthemums forming a design of Singapore’s iconic Dragon Playground and the national flower, Papilionanthe Miss Joaquim.
