No need to keep the kids cooped up at home this school holiday, since the much awaited annual Children’s Festival is back. And this time, it’s themed to the beloved Emotions of Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2.

With free interactive installations and immersive experiences inspired by the Emotions, think of it as a sneak peek before the June 13 release of the sequel. Not only can kids learn to explore different feelings through play, the entire family is sure to have a fun day out. From now to June 22, here's what you can expect at the 10th edition of the Children's Festival.

Inside Out 2-themed carnival at Gardens by the Bay

You've met protagonist Riley in the first movie but now, she's getting ready to step into her first year of high school. With that comes a whole slew of new Emotions that arrive together with puberty, ranging from Anxiety to Embarrassment.

When you first enter the Supertree Grove, you'll instantly spot the Kaleidoscope of Memories. As the centrepiece installation, this is inspired by the colourful long-term memory library depicted in Inside Out. Form your own digital “memory orbs” here by simply scanning the QR code, then selecting an Emotion that reflects how you currently feel. Strike a pose and get it  projected on the wall – voila, you've added your very own memory orb.

Kids will likely run straight to Mood Swings, an apt activity to depict the Emotion Joy. There's nothing like swinging as high as you can to feel like you're truly on top of the world.

Make sure to stop by the Expression Doodles themed after Sadness and Embarrassment. Pick up a water brush here, and seek solace through art – it's a fantastic outlet to let go of any negativity.

You'll also want to navigate through the Emotion Mirrors, that represent handling seemingly uncontrollable Emotions like Fear and Anxiety. With mini timed challenges and a mirror maze to explore, kids can learn how to calm themselves down and figure their way out.

Your little ones are sure to enjoy Fort Pillowtown where creativity comes to the forefront – after all, it's every kid's dream to build a magnificent pillow fort. Otherwise, it’s also a perfect place to lounge around, like the Emotion Ennui.

There's also a Memory Orb Mountain, a play area that's filled with inflatable balls that glow in the evenings. Not only will kids have a blast in the play area, but it's also a meaningful, symbolic take on how we need to balance our emotions.

Family-friendly activities at Children's Festival 2024

This June holiday, bring your entire family down to the only Inside Out 2-themed outdoor  carnival in Southeast Asia with large scale installations. Make sure to catch the special edition of the nightly Garden Rhapsody light and sound show that's happening at 7.45pm and 8.45pm. Titled “The Medley of Emotions”, it features an illuminated display across the Supertrees and memory orb installation, synced to the Inside Out soundtrack.

On top of free interactive installations, you can also look forward to themed merchandise and an activity trail booklet for kids – check off all to score a free sticker sheet* and a souvenir keychain with a Gardens by the Bay exclusive design*, that can be customised with little charms inspired by Inside Out 2. If you like, you can also purchase themed merchandise including the likes of tees, bucket hats, and totes.

*While stocks last.
