It's not often we get to see local films on the big screen, and less so when they're by budding filmmakers. Fresh Meat, presented by *SCAPE, is changing that. Across two Saturdays, moviegoers can catch six short films by upcoming filmmaking talent at Suntec City Golden Village followed by a question-and-answer segment.
Ever wondered what a local action film would look like? Or a horror movie? Find out on July 8 and August 12 at Fresh Meat, where you'll watch the six short flicks back-to-back. It's a rollercoaster ride of emotions, from the thrill of action-packed Henchmen by Alistair Quak, the whimsicality of Every Floor Looks The Same by Gladys Ng, to the creeping horror of You Will See by Kathleen Bu. Then there is the laugh-out-loud satirical animation Hot Buns by Calleen Koh, the touching documentary 21 by Christine Seow, and the sinister revenge prank turned bad in Strawberry Cheesecake by Tan Siyou.
Collectively, these films have been screened at renowned film festivals like Amsterdam's Kaboom Animation Festival, Montreal's Fantasia International Film Festival, and Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. Produced as part of *SCAPE's Film Facilitation Programme, the aim is to get more local cinemagoers to appreciate the budding talent we have on our shores.
