Nothing’s more enjoyable than a lick of ice cream on a hot day. With the way Singapore’s weather has been lately, this gelato cart doling out free ice cream sandwiches is a dream come true. Head to Singapore Land Tower (outside of HSBC Bank) from 11am onwards, and you’ll be strolling away with a free burrata gelato sandwich – there’s a limited number available so go early.
The sandwich is a much-needed sweet treat to put a halt to mid-week blues. It uses a buttery Italian brioche, comes with a tomato-strawberry compote, and even has a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil atop. This gelato cart is tied to Chef Mirko Febbrile’s newest concept: Fico, a casual Italian restaurant in the East that’s due to open in mid-May.
The last we heard of Chef Mirko was his popular Chinatown Complex pop-up, a collaboration done with pasta hawker stall Nudedles.4. He’s well-known in the food scene for his expertise in Italian cuisine, and has helmed some of Singapore’s best kitchens – everything from Michelin-starred Bracci to National Gallery’s now-defunct Aura. Reservations for Fico are now open but the restaurant is already almost booked out for May.
