From thought-provoking exhibitions to a contemporary art fair, you don’t necessarily have to be an art enthusiast to enjoy Singapore Art Week. With more than 150 art experiences at this 10-day festival, it’s little wonder that it’s one of the most highly anticipated arts event in the region. 

A light festival in the CBD, a late-night showcase at Gillman Barracks, and plenty of art by local artists – you’ll want to cram in as much as possible. From January 19 to 28, here are some of the most exciting events to check out at the twelfth edition of Singapore Art Week.

Best events at Singapore Art Week 2024

Everyone knows of Light to Night as one of the most illuminating night festivals in Singapore, with light installations around the Civic District. It’s back this January with more than 60 dazzling art pieces. With a theme like Reimagine, you can bet that we’ll be looking at this year’s lineup with fresh eyes. Have a hand at Ping Pong Go-Round, where you can go all in with a game of ping pong, or visit multi-room installation Wishful Thinking where you’ll feel like you’re part of an ASMR video. 

When it comes to Southeast Asian contemporary art, there’s no better platform than art market hub S.E.A. Focus. Here, at Tanjong Pagar Distripark, you’ll find a riveting showcase of both local and regional art. As the sixth edition, this year ponders over what it means to be human while co-existing with other forms of intelligence. 

ART SG 2024

While Art SG’s launch was just in 2023, they’ve already made a name for themselves as one of the region’s leading international art fairs. From January 19 to 21, the second edition is where you’ll find contemporary art from around the world – along with other highlights such as massive art installations, curated talks, and film programmes. Tickets start from $32.

Art After Dark at Gillman Barracks

On January 13, Gillman Barracks is having a late night with Art After Dark. On this special night, resident galleries like Art Outreach, Columns Gallery, and Fost Gallery will open their doors till 9pm. Other galleries include the likes of Mizuma Gallery, and Ota Fine Arts. You might even be able to speak to some of the artists-in-residence at the NTU Center of Contemporary Art Singapore. 

THE 5th VH AWARD Exhibition

From January 21 to February 4, be sure to check out the works of Grand Prix recipient Subash Thebe Limbu at The 5th VH AWARD Exhibition. This annual exhibition supports the novel concepts of rising Asian artists. This year is no different, with the award-winning artworks thoughtfully featuring our interaction with technology and AI. 

Over 150 art events at Singapore Art Week 2024

As one of Asia’s leading visual arts events, there’s every reason to check out Singapore Art Week 2024. From January 19 to 28, the twelfth edition features more than 150 art events that take place at galleries, museums, and even our public spaces. It’s beyond a vibrant showcase of our arts community – you’ll get to experience and appreciate the best of Singapore’s arts. 

You can also take the free shuttle bus around, that’ll conveniently drop you off at the Singapore Art Week districts like Gillman Barracks, Tanjong Pagar Distripark, and National Gallery Singapore. Whether you’re taking shots of the lit-up facades at Light to Night or you’re left pondering over the unique pieces at The 5th VH AWARD Exhibition, this 10-day lineup will have you seeing Singapore’s art community in a new light.
