If you’re into cocktails, mark your calendar for March 3, 2025. The Bar at 15 Stamford in The Capitol Kempinski Hotel is hosting a one-night-only guest shift marathon as part of Bar Convent Singapore Week.
This special night, aptly titled The Best of Asia, brings together four bartenders from some of Asia’s best bars. Here’s where you get to meet the faces behind some of the most sought-after bars in the region, from Kuala Lumpur’s Penrose (No.8 Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2024) to Hong Kong’s The Old Man (No.71 Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2024), Japan’s Tokyo Confidential (No.53 Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2024), and Bangkok’s The Pickwicks Chronicles.
This night is all about cocktails that go beyond the basics. Jon Lee from Penrose is known for his pinpoint approach to cocktail balance, and his banana daiquiri is a must-try – combining banana, tamarind, pimento berry, and tonka beans. Nikita Matveev from The Old Man, who helped the bar rise to the top of the ranks in the scene, will showcase his take on Ernest Hemingway-inspired drinks. Holly Graham, who opened Tokyo Confidential in 2023, will present her ever-evolving cocktail creations featuring Japanese ingredients and low-to-no-ABV offerings. Meanwhile, Gabriel Gliga from The Pickwicks Chronicles will bring a touch of Victorian-era flair to his gin-heavy concoctions.
Cocktails go at $24 each for this event, but considering that it’s not every day you get to sample drinks from a group of bartenders as diverse as this – we’d say it’s worth the splurge.
