When it comes to the world of whisky, it’s been an exceptional century with the House of Suntory. This legacy brand is driven by “monozukuri”, a Japanese philosophy that embraces the pursuit of perfection in craftsmanship. Now, they’re celebrating their 100th anniversary all around our little red dot.

You can savour Suntory’s premium whisky flavours by booking one of the whisky pairing dinners that’ve been put together by some of Singapore’s most renowned chefs. The House of Suntory is also showcasing their rich heritage with an already sold-out exhibition at the ArtScience Museum from July 13 to 17, with film screenings, floor-to-ceiling projections, and whisky tasting sessions.

Savour whisky pairing dinners by celebrated chefs

Keen on trying some of Suntory’s premium whiskies and spirits? You can do just that with House of Suntory Masters, an exclusive dinner series featuring 8 celebrated chefs in Singapore. By fusing together skilful culinary expertise and some of Suntory’s legendary whiskies, you’re in for a memorable meal. At these dinners, exquisite food is paired with limited centennial whisky editions including Yamazaki 18 Years Mizunara and Hakushu 18 Year Old Peated Malt. Both were released just this year, and are only available in limited quantities.

Look forward to renowned chefs from some of Singapore’s top restaurants cooking up a storm, including Chef Cheung Siu Kong (Summer Pavilion), Chef Kenji Yamanaka (Béni), Chef Takuya Yamashita (Whitegrass), Yohhei Sasaki (La D’Oro), Yuji Sato (Sushi Sato), Daniel Chavez (Canchita), Yusuke Takada (Hanazen), and Taro Takayama (Takayama). These chefs will be cooking up a storm, with thoughtfully crafted set menus or omakase experiences that will pair perfectly with Suntory’s finest spirits.

New Suntory Whisky exhibition at ArtScience Museum

While already sold out, the new exhibition The Legacy Continues: 100 Years of Suntory Whisky Innovation at ArtScience Museum is a one-of-a-kind experience to celebrate 100 years of Suntory whisky. It has four distinct spaces, starting with The Awakening that’s inspired by the Yamazaki Distillery itself – Japan’s very first and oldest malt whisky distillery that’s been around since the early 1920s. It’s been purposefully set up for visitors to learn more about the distinct flavour profiles of Suntory’s iconic whiskies.

Next is The Boom, a fine showcase of Japan’s “boom” era between the 50s to the late 60s – when Japanese bar culture became a statement in itself. It’s filled with vintage Suntory posters and old TV relics, reliving Japan’s bar scene back in the day. There’s also The Screening Room, which will be screening Suntory Anniversary Tribute directed by Academy Award-winning director Sofia Coppola – an absorbing tale of Suntory’s century-long heritage. This marks the first-in-the-world preview of the mini docuseries The Nature and Spirit of Japan that explores Japanese whisky culture, a new series that stars Keanue Reeves and is directed by Roman Coppola.

Visitors will wrap up with a visit to The Bar, a minimalist bar space that’s inspired by the “listening bars'' of the 60s. With immersive visual projections and curated playlists, this space features three culturally distinct eras of Japan. For each era, a series of corresponding exquisitely prepared whisky flights featuring Suntory’s premium whiskies such as Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Ao will be served.

Celebrate 100 years with Suntory Whisky

This year marks a standout century of Japanese whisky with the House of Suntory. From a curated series of whisky pairing dinners to an already sold-out exhibition at the ArtScience Museum, there’s plenty going on to celebrate Suntory’s 100th anniversary of whisky innovation.

If travelling, make sure to also pop by Suntory’s pop-up at Changi Airport Terminal 1. From June 16 to July 25, you can get a first look at Suntory’s limited edition whiskies in the transit area. There’s also a display of the brand’s rich heritage, a scent experience of core whisky ingredients, and an engaging video of the whiskies’ flavour profiles – while there, make sure to sample some of Suntory’s craft spirits like Roku Gin and Haku Gin at the bar counter too.
