Here's a charity event like no other – think four-course meal delivered at your doorstep, and punchlines delivered by comedy queen Kumar. Organised by the charity organisation National Arthritis Foundation (NAF) as well as marketing and PR agency Blazon, this unique fundraiser on August 1 aims to shine a light on the medical condition in a fun yet educational and fulfilling way.
For the ultimate experience of A Night with Kumar and Friends, complete it with a four-course dinner set that will be delivered to you on the day of the show. There are two sets to choose from: a Mod-Sing menu put together by Chef Ivan Yeo (1925), Executive Chef Alvin Leong (Crowne Plaza Changi) and Chef Cao Yong (Jing Dian), and a French fine-dining set prepared by Chef Patrick Heuberger (Atout) and Chef Francois Mermilliod (Bar-A-Thym).
Each meal is paired with the newly launched Australian premium wine Zarita Estate, Liang Teh craft beer by The 1925 Brewing Company, as well as a themed floral bouquet by five generations-long florists, Sing See Soon.
Once you're all set, tune into Sistic Live where the show is streamed live. Your host with most is none other than the legendary Kumar in full drag, no less. The show also features music performances by popular bar band Jack and Rai, the youthful exuberance of The Lost Box, and international jazz songbird Joanna Dong who was recently diagnosed with arthritis.
Learn more about the condition through the stories shared by patients of arthritis. Don't miss a special guest appearance by former Real Madrid football star Victor Sanchez and ATP Tour winner Feliciano Lopez in the interview segment. The latter is also set to donate signed memorabilia to support the cause.
It's not your usual Zoom-dinner, either. The show is staged in a technologically advanced 3D set, which makes this the first augmented reality (AR) live virtual show in Singapore. You don't need to purchase a ticket for the show too. It's free to watch but donations are encouraged. NAF aims to raise $200,000 to sustain its various subsidies, programs, and workshops as well as to build dedicated arthritis centres within the heartlands.
"Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our traditional fundraising activities such as gala dinner or charity golf had to be cancelled. Without these funds, the foundation's daily activities, including subsidies for needy patients and exercise classes and workshops may be adversely affected, let alone building a war chest for the future," says Dr Wilson Chew, deputy chairman of the NAF.
There's no denying that charity organisations have taken a hard hit due to the pandemic. Do your part and donate as much as you can as every little help counts. Pre-order dining for individual, family, and group of 10 packages are available from $280 at bit.ly/KumarAndFriends. Donations can be made during the live stream on Sistic Live.
