Pandemic restrictions have gutted the arts industry – theatre companies like Wild Rice have been operating at just 25 to 40 percent of their capacity, kept afloat by the funds raised during last year's virtual fundraising gala The Rice Ball. This year, prevailing health and safety regulations have put even that possibility to rest. In place of the usual gala ball, Wild Rice is counting on the premiere of Don't Call Him Mr. Mari Kita as a crucial fundraiser to replenish what is literally their 'rice bowl'.
Bring your friends and family to catch this theatre production, which celebrates the life and legacy of Zubir Said, best known as the composer of our National Anthem. Written and performed by musical director Julian Wong, and directed by Cultural Medallion Winner Ivan Heng, it promises to be an inspiring – and of course, musically rousing – look into the life of one of Singapore's greatest icons.
Donation packages range from $500 to $10,00 for 2, 5 or 10 seats. Reserve your seats at wildrice.com.sg or reach out to Wild Rice via Whatsapp and email.
