If Sing'theatre's 2013 debut of A French Kiss in Singapore had you falling head over heels, then its 2025 revival will have you puckering up for more. And if you haven’t seen it, it’s time you catch this highly raved musical from April 17 to 27.
Set to be staged at SOTA Drama Theatre, A French Kiss in Singapore is a cheeky love letter to four of France’s most iconic singer-songwriters: Charles Aznavour, Serge Gainsbourg, Jacques Brel, and Charles Trenet. If those names don’t ring a bell, we’re sure their songs – which have been immortalised by legends like Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli, and David Bowie – will.
Directed by and starring Hossan Leong, the revival also features local stars Amin Alifin, Andrew Marko, Dwayne Lau, and Rino Junior John who are breathing new life into its captivating musical numbers. Expect a melodic rollercoaster of love and loss, from the heartbreakingly poetic ‘Ne Me Quitte Pas’ (Don’t Leave Me) to the playfully relatable ‘Mes Emmerdes’ (Pretty Shitty Days – yes, that’s the song title). Get swept up in the songwriters' scandalous affairs and uncover the colourful stories behind the music that will steal your heart and leave you humming long after the final bow.
