You’ll find everything you need to get your body moving at the new, supersized Pure Fitness outlet at Suntec City. Here, the spacious 30,000 square feet space stocks machines from stair masters and ellipticals at the cardio area, to a kickboxing arena to punch and kick all your frustrations away. A perk of working out at Pure Fitness is that you can slip into the gym’s complementary workout attire – right down to socks – and sweat away without worrying about bringing dirty laundry home.
Hate the crowd? Try the offerings at the newly launched FUZE studio that’s exclusive to the Suntec outlet, with three different small-group classes (45-50 minutes) that will leave you panting for more. There’s the Les Mills-backed CEREMONY and CONQUER – a functional HIIT and aqua-boxing class respectively. But for a full-body workout sesh, hop into a BLAZE class. It’s a dynamic program developed in-house by Pure, and combines an equal mix of cardio elements and strength-building moves to push your body to its limit.
A typical BLAZE class which we dropped by for had us begin with controlled, but intense exercises to help develop power: think pull-ups, dumbbells lunges, weighted squats and the likes that you perform together with a workout partner. You’d notice that functional moves are favoured over technical, complicated exercises to help develop practical stamina and strength. In the second half of the class, the pace picks up. The emphasis shifts to cardio, performed in short sets with minimal rest time to keep your heart rate pumping in overdrive. Between sprints on the treadmill and floor movements with a medicine ball, there was hardly any time catch our breath.
Of course, classic gym facilities and the more-familiar group training programs are also available. And when you’re done with a day of sweating, fuel up with a recovery shake from the gym’s own healthy eatery, Nood Food.
