Sporting goods store Decathlon opens its first duplex concept store in Orchard Road. On top of the wide variety of affordable sporting goods, the store will also feature modern technological systems and virtual reality test zones amongst other firsts for the brand.
The virtual reality test zone includes an area where you can "experience" camping. With VR technology, shoppers can simulate an immersive camping experience in Decathlon's tent options in day and night settings. There are other test zones where you can also try out products for all kinds of sports like basketball to track and field. Apart from test zones, Decathlon Orchard will also have event spaces to run free sports classes for its members – although this will be an online programme for now.
A first for any other Decathlon store in Singapore is the 3D morphological machine situated at the running aisle. Customers can get accurate, personalised 3D measures of their foot size and gait in order to purchase the right shoe for their sports practice.
The Orchard branch will also be an eco-friendly one and there will be no paper used throughout the two-storey store to display product information. On top of that, you will also be able to find eco-designed products like jute mats for yoga and sportswear made entirely of recycled polyester thread.
