Malaysians will swear that authentic curry mee from +60 tastes different from the versions produced here, and Yap’s Noodles at Yishun Park Hawker Centre is proof of that. Serving a family-recipe Ipoh Curry Mee, owner Henry Yap holds back on the curry paste but goes heavy on the lemongrass to deliver an inimitable complex flavour that’s a little closer to its Ipoh roots. Served dry or soup (recommended) the bowl is chock-full of ingredients (prawns, squid, roast pork) making its $6.50 price tag more than justified.
