If you cannot envision Korean fare without barbecued meats or fried chicken, a visit to this meatless Korean restaurant will change your mind. Not only are the kimchi and sauces here all homemade and meat-free, they're also allium-free, meaning no garlic, onion, shallot, leek, or chives are used. Most ingredients are flown in from Korea for the freshest flavours.
The most popular items on the menu are the kimchi jjigae ($13), kimchi pancake ($11), and the dolsot bibimbap ($16). Packed with raw veggies, the bibimbap tastes decidedly healthier while still being full of flavour. Meanwhile, other items soondubu jjigae (soft tofu stew, $15), also hit the spot. Spicy, warm, and comforting, the broth is a slow burner that builds up after a while.
Visiting with friends? Share the ever-popular budae jjigae or army stew ($44), where the usual suspects of spam, ham, and sausages are replaced with plant-based alternatives. Boneless Kitchen also does a healthier version of kimbap using purple rice (from $12).
