We all love sushi. Whether it’s from the supermarket or a conveyor belt sushi joint, the combination of rice and raw fish is undeniably delicious and easy to enjoy. Whenever a renowned Japanese sushi chef arrives on our shores, we’re quick to see what the hype is all about. The downside is the hefty price tag that comes with it.
Enter Sushi to Sumi, Singapore’s first authentic standing sushi restaurant that serves up delectable omakase sets at an affordable price. These lower than average price points are achieved as the restaurant is directly managed by Goodvibes, a wholesaler of fresh fish and other ingredients from Japan, meaning that the restaurant is able to serve quality products at a lower price. Sushi to Sumi’s most affordable omakase set is Ume, which offers eight pieces of sushi, a grilled seafood dish, and a bowl of miso soup. This course will set you back $30 during lunch time, and $50 during dinner time.
Those willing to splurge a little can opt for Take ($45 for lunch, $80 for dinner) and Matsu ($80 for lunch, $120 for dinner), where you can get 10 and 12 pieces of sushi respectively alongside the grilled seafood dish and miso soup. The Take set also comes with an additional ala carte dish, while Matsu comes with an additional signature dish. Considering how omakase dining in Singapore averages around $100 per person, Sushi to Sumi gives you the most bang for your buck by balancing quality and affordability.
