Time Out says

If there's one thing we need more of in Singapore, it's pet-friendly cafés. Surrey Hills Grocer, the newest outlet of the Australian-inspired chain, is one that's opened at Woodleigh Mall. Boasting a charming train theme, it serves up hearty brunch fair with plans for a pet-friendly menu, and has an adjacent grocer that stocks Australian brands and pet products.

The interior space is bursting with lush plants and rail-inspired accents, including a seating area designed after a train cabin with window views. Above, a Mornington-inspired toy train makes its rounds around the café on suspended rail tracks. Surrey Hills Grocer is completely pet-friendly, so you're free to bring your dog or cat in to the café space or to browse around at the grocery section.

Perhaps the most exciting part of the menu is The Pancake Parlour selection. The Pancake Parlour is Melbourne's oldest pancake house, and it's trained the chefs here in Singapore in whipping up the perfect stack. Go classic with the The Classic Stack ($20), which is a three-tiered stack topped with whipped butter and vanilla crème chantilly and maple syrup on the side. There's also a two-tiered option with blueberry compote as well as a savoury option with maple glazed smoked bacon, sunny side-up, and hollandaise sauce.

You'll find Australian-inspired brunch items on the menu, but given localised and creative twists. Besides classics like the big breakfast, intriguing dishes include the mala hotpot linguine ($32), which comes loaded with shimeji mushrooms, crispy beancurd skin, and quail egg in a spicy mala broth; as well as Pork Belly Benny ($28), where the usual egg's Benedict has been reimagined with a side of deep fried pork belly and caramel apple puree. These dishes, including other signatures like the Peruvian roasted chicken breast ($34) and Wagyu Lava Burger ($32), are exclusive to the Woodleigh Mall outlet.

By the end of November, your furkids will be able to eat right along with you too. Surrey Hills Grocer will be rolling out a special menu just for cats and dogs using human-grade ingredients. Boost their protein intake with Chicken Meal, chicken mixed with cod liver oil, organic wheat grass, and enoki mushroom; let them try the duck meatball, a healthy blend of minced duck, red cabbage and pumpkin; and finish off with a refreshing watermelon ice cream.

Don't forget to browse Surrey Hills Grocer's impressive selection of Australian brands too. Stock up your pantry with premium olive oils from Rich Glen or indulge in artisanal ice cream made with Tasmanian ingredients from Van Diemens Land Creamery. The pet section, adorably named Furry Hills, has an equally extensive array of grooming products, accessories, and pet food and treats from brands like Melanie Newman, Freezy Paws, and WAG.

Surrey Hills Grocer is open every day from 10am to 10pm. For more information, visit surreyhillsgrocer.sg.
