After a consultation with cheongsam dressmaker at Studio HHFZ, pop over to Siyuan Desserts for a bowl of delicious traditional Chinese desserts. The best part is? The dessert store is within the cheongsam studio itself. Dressed up in oriental Chinese fittings and furnishings, Siyuan Desserts has authentic treats to match. Try its signature almond cream, a warm and creamy dessert with a subtly sweet aroma that's sure to comfort. You can also have it alongside sesame and walnut pastes in its 3 Mini Bowls ($5) sampler.
For something cold and refreshing, try Siyuan Dessert's chng tng with peach gum ($5.50 for chilled, $5 for warm) or mango sago ($5). The latter comes with generous toppings of mango chunks, tadpole jelly, and sago. You might be surprised to find chendol ($4) on the menu as it's not a traditional Chinese dessert. It's still worth a try, especially when you can add a dollop of yam paste ($2.50) – a combination you don't find often.
Siyuan Desserts is open from Tuesdays to Sundays in Jalan Besar. Check out its Instagram for more information about this hidden dessert gem.
