The popular brunch spot, Amber Ember, unfortunately closed its doors in December last year, with the owners deciding that it was time to embark on a new journey. While the closure of the beloved café left a sense of loss, new brunch caféOddity takes its place to inject a renewed vibrancy into the community.
Oddity lives up to its name, with a menu of brunch classics given unique spins. This includes the bulgogi eggs Bennie ($20), where classic eggs Benedict meets beef bulgogi, gochu-mayo sauce, and napa kimchi. Another unique inclusion is the Arigatoast ($18), where typical avocado toast is elevated with furikake, togarashi spice, and kizami nori for a heartier and more flavourful meal.
Alongside brunch items, you can also find innovative mains like Bangkok Rush ($19) – spinach tagliatelle with a creamy Thai green curry sauce, and Tom Says Yum ($22), an aglio olio style linguine served with tom yum sauce, seared prawns, and squid rings. Oddity Café also offers housemade ice creams (from $5), with flavours like roasted rice milk tea, cereal milk, and Okinawa sweet potato. Instead of having it with a waffle ($9) or a brownie ($12), enjoy your ice cream with a mantou sandwich ($9). The savoury fried mantou complements the sweet ice cream perfectly, and provides an added crunch to the dessert. If you’re a fan of the crispy bun on its own, you can also order the fried mantou separately for just $3.
Oddity Café also has a pet-friendly outdoor seating area, so you can enjoy a lovely meal with your furry friends after a long walk. Don’t worry, the café also serves up pawpsicles ($2.50) to keep your pets refreshed.
