There’s something alluring about the minimalist aesthetic. It’s a sleek and uncluttered look where everything finds its place effortlessly, evoking a sense of satisfaction. Muted, a newly opened gelato shop in Lavender, embodies this philosophy in its food, by opting to use only the finest ingredients that come straight from the grocer as well as staying away from any artificial flavourings, colouring, and preservatives.
A single scoop costs $5, while a double scoop costs $9. For premium flavours, customers will have to pay an additional $1, but Muted’s Sicilian pistachio is worth the extra cost. The nutty flavour, combined with the rich and creamy consistency of the gelato, provides an indulgent treat without the lingering guilt that frequently follows dessert. Those who prefer something lighter should try their Evergreen sorbet – a sorbet inspired by virgin mojitos, with notes of mint, lime, and cucumber that makes it the perfect refreshing treat for a hot day.

Muted’s interior mirrors its culinary ethos with simplicity and a, dare we say, muted palette. Salmon pink walls, rounded archways, and sleek font choices contribute to the shop’s clean and minimalist aesthetic. Although non-fans of minimalism may find the interior to be a bit sparse, its resemblance to a liminal space offers comfort – allowing you to step away from reality for a brief moment and savour a cup of gelato. Muted is also open till midnight, making it the ideal spot for late night heart-to-heart conversations with friends after an evening out.
