The wait is finally over – since its announcement in June, famous burger chain Five Guys is opening its doors on December 16, Monday, at Plaza Singapura.
Best known for its hand-formed patties and fresh, crispy fries, you can now satisfy your craving and enjoy its burgers, fries, and milkshakes without having to travel to the East Coast (or its overseas outpost).
On the menu includes burgers that come plain ($13) or topped with cheese ($15). But really, you should be getting the bacon cheeseburger ($17) that comes loaded with two rashes of applewood-smoked bacon. Layer your burger with all the fix-ins you want – there’s a total of 15 to choose from – and enjoy a greasy, sloppy stack that has earned the brand a loyal following. A selection of all-beef hot dogs (from $10) and sandwiches (from $8) is also available.
It’s not a complete experience American diner without french fries (from $7), and the ones at Five Guys are treated with reverence. Two or more “fries calibration” sessions are held every day to ensure each strip of hand-cut potato reaches its maximum potential: firm and crispy on the outside, yet soft and fluffy when bit into. Have it lightly salted, Five Guys-style, or spiced up with Cajun seasoning. Here’s a hot tip: get the spice mix served on the side to enjoy it both ways.
You could wash your meal all down with a drink from the bottomless soda fountain ($5), but a classic Five Guys Shake ($10) is essential for maximum enjoyment. Concoct your own creamy, decadent treat from 11 different mix-ins – bacon optional, but highly encouraged for a unique, salty crunch between sips of sweet.
And to keep things authentic, expect to hear the same classic rock music that's played across its various outlets. It's all part of the plan to make you get a burger – or five.
