Cheeky and fun desserts are the order of the day at Fat Lulu’s (in case you couldn’t tell by the restaurant’s name). Chef Song’s Childhood ($16) takes inspiration from his favourite sweet treats growing up – and slaps them all on one plate. There’s a peanut butter popsicle, chocolate cookie and tangy raspberry granita that not only cuts through the richness of the other elements but evokes fond memories of mum making Ribena for us on a sunny day.
For those looking for an intense sugar high, splash out on The Dessert Pig Out – $65 gives you access to 10 desserts that are good to share in a group of four. Highlights include a decadent mocha choux, lemongrass jelly and a mix of passionfruit and hazelnut lightly spiced with a sprinkle of black pepper.
