Pies, fish and chips: with its wall of windows facing the street, the newest bistro serving Aussie food has a warm breeze and friendly staff to complement the informality of its speciality dishes. Named after the glamorous Sydney suburb, the restaurant attracts a cosmopolitan post-work crowd in search of tasty casual fare. Seafood lovers are in for a treat and would do well to start with the tasty tuna carpaccio served with a bushel of alfalfa sprouts. For something heartier, try the large, full-flavoured, blue swimmer crabcake, served with a tart lemon mayonnaise. We were impressed by the fresh flavour of the barramundi, fried in a coriander and sumac batter and served with thick-cut chips and salad. Even though the sticky date pudding was heavier and more gelatinous than golden syrup-soaked sponge, we’ll still return for the all-day Sunday brunch to tackle the molten lava chocolate cake.
