This restaurant prides itself on its authentic mall soup base. Rapeseed oil imported from Chengdu is used instead of the usual animal fat to create its signature Da Miao special spicy soup (from $20). It comes in two levels of spice: one tailored for local tastebuds, and another made the standard Sichuan way. Other non-spicy soup bases are also worth trying, like its creamy beauty collagen soup broth (from $32) made with pork bones, fish maw, pig skin, and pumpkin. Adding to the experience is a selection of meat (from $12) and vegetables (from $6), and dramatic face-changing performances on the side.
