The ultimate post-retirement plan is starting up your own cosy café or ice cream parlour. Think about it – you get to create your perfect café and the perfect menu to go along with it, and you get to spend your days brewing coffee and coming up with new ice cream flavours. Well, that dream is now a reality for Vincent Lim, who you may know as the father who scolded his daughter – “Siao ah!” – for pranking him on TikTok. The name Crazy Scoops is a nod to the popular catchphrase, and a neon sign saying “Siao ah!” is featured prominently on the café’s wall.
The café offers 16 different ice cream flavours, such as Thai milk tea and sea salt matcha. If you’re feeling bold, opt for the coriander ice cream for a mix of citrus and nuttiness. A single scoop of ice cream starts from $4.50, and you can top up an additional $1 for premium flavours. Those who prefer something more indulgent can add on a croffle ($5.50) or a waffle ($7), both of which are made fresh with Crazy Scoops’ homemade buttermilk batter upon order, and come with a small jug of syrup to pour over your dessert.
Crazy Scoops’ menu is not limited to just ice cream but also features savoury snacks such as spicy drumlets ($11), tater tots ($8), and cheesesticks ($11). For drinks, standard coffee options are available but the café also offers specialty sodas like mango passionfruit ($6.50) and butterfly pea yuzu honey ($6.50) to quench your thirst on a hot day.
