Singapore's forgotten rooftops are gradually transforming into urban gardens, and in Realty Centre's case, home to an alfresco barbecue restaurant. Owner Nicholas Lee and his team kindle charcoals and woods every Monday to Saturday atop the ageing Realty Centre office building in Tanjong Pagar. To get to the neon-lit spot, take the lift up then climb the stairs.
The menu is predictably protein-heavy, with smoke-kissed 100 percent Angus in a signature Charcoal Pit burger ($15), baby back pork ribs ($22/half, $34/full rack), beef ribs ($32), and different cuts of steaks fired on their grills. Wunderbar ($6.50-$15) and Borealis beers ($11-$14), as well as Zeffer pear and The Hills apple ciders ($11/$14), are on hand to quell the heat, and non-alcoholic options include soft drinks and sodas ($4-$7).
