Here's an office that you'll want to report to. Bing Tang Tang Shui is a traditional Chinese dessert café in Thomson that's dressed up to look like a retro office. The space has a receptionist area, meeting rooms, office and pantry, and even a chairman's office for a lone diner, all decked out with vintage furniture and knick knacks – think typewriters, old dial phones, and retro lamps.
Also called The Rock Sugar Office, the café serves up unique floral-infused twists on classic Chinese desserts – sweetened with rock sugar, of course. Signatures include chng tng ($8.80), which has dried candied mandarin orange and housemade rose jelly, given a flora touch with a light rose infusion. Apart from the familiar mango sago ($8.80) (Bing Tang Tang Shui's has a lavender infusion and is topped with rich cream cheese), the café also serves a honeydew and watermelon sago ($8.80) that's topped with ginger flower-infused syrup.
Other signatures include sesame tang yuan with an osmanthus-infused caramel topping ($12.50), collagen bird's nest, and orh nee (yam paste) with pearl chysanthemum-infused syrup ($7). Classic versions of these desserts without the floral-infusions are also available.
Bing Tang Tang Shui also has savoury snacks, such as kueh pai tee ($6.80) and chee cheong fun ($5.50). A perfect supper pick-me-up if you're swinging by late at night – after all, this place closes at 1.30am on most nights. Find out more about Bing Tang Tang Shui on its Instagram.
