Get cosy with the perfect cup of hot chocolate this festive season with Lemuel Chocolate’s Beanfolks– a hot chocolate bar where customers have full control over the taste of their perfect cup of chocolate. Prior to the newly opened hot chocolate bar at Jewel, Lemuel Chocolate’s factory-café at Star Vista has gained traction by showing customers its bean-to-bar process, with huge windows looking in on factory workers making Lemuel Chocolate’s specialty bonbons and chocolate bars. The café also offers workshops for customers to learn more about chocolate making, who can either choose to try their hand at the process or participate in a tasting session to learn more about the various flavour profiles of chocolate.
While these workshops can cost you a pretty penny, Beanfolks allows customers to experiment with flavour profiles and gain insight into how the taste of chocolate can be transformed with various infusions, starting at just $7.50. The process starts by choosing your type of drink, whether it’s pure chocolate ($8) or mixed with a shot of espresso to create a mocha ($7.50). You can then choose between seven chocolates of different origins, ranging from 30 percent white chocolate from Ecuador to 90 percent dark chocolate from Ghana, depending on how intense you like it.
The process ends by picking between four types of milk and an infusion of your choice – this is where you can tailor your hot chocolate to your exact preference. Classic infusions such as sea salt, cinnamon, and vanilla are available, but more unorthodox infusions such as roasted rice and smoke add a unique twist. You can also opt for Beanfolks’ premium infusions such as matcha and osmanthus for an additional $0.50. For those who find an extensive array of options daunting, Beanfolks also has a flavour guide indicating ideal milk and infusion pairings for each type of chocolate.
