Started in 2015, Bao Makers has become a familiar name amongst Singaporeans. Once a delivery-only business that had the occasional pop-up at food festivals, Bao Makers has now settled down at Far East Square, offering a wide array of bao and noodle options for you to choose from. The store mainly does takeaways, but if you’re lucky, you can snag a table outside the store for a “dine-in” experience.
We recommend opting for Bao Makers’ $12 combo, where you can choose between three baos, or one bao and a bowl of noodles, both options complete with a side of crispy chips made with lotus root and chilli powder for a satisfying kick. As for baos, you can’t go wrong with Belly of Pork ($4) – a succulent braised pork belly with fried garlic and lettuce nestled within a fluffy steamed white bun. Those looking for a more indulgent bao should definitely try chipotle beef ($4.50), a breaded beef patty with a crisp exterior and tender meat with chipotle mayo drizzled on top, complemented by a soft steamed sesame bun. Finish your meal with a dessert bao – we recommend the mini mantou balls with sweet milk drizzle ($3.50) for the perfect balance of sweet and savoury.
