Designed with a Parisian café in mind, there’s plenty of French flavour in this new 100-seat shopping mall bistro and confectionery, from the façade to the food. Familiar dishes include the Modern Niçoise salad with tuna, feta and sun-dried tomatoes ($20) and a classic French onion soup ($14), as well as other Western fare such as their Au Chocolat Signature Burger, with cheddar cheese, bacon, portobello mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes ($25), and brunch items. Then of course, there’s the chocolate, with everything from Profiteroles in Chocolate Soup ($15) to chocolate cake ($18), fudge freezes ($12) and milkshakes. Even certain menu items get a taste of the sweetness, such as the Au Chocolate Benedict ($18) that comes with the chefs’ own hollandaise sauce consisting of red wine and dark chocolate.
