Alter Ego is, as its name suggests, the "darker" side of A Poke Theory. While both joints serve healthy poke bowls, Alter Ego also offers indulgent grub like their signature pizza fries ($14) – thick-cut fries topped with smoked pepperoni, three-cheese sauce and a helping of house-made bacon ketchup. Other notable bites include their southern fried chicken skin ($7) and rendang grilled cheese ($16).
On weekends, their brunch menu puts an interesting spin on classic favourites. The Pokecado toast ($17) takes its cue from avocado toast, and includes a serving of poke with crispy tempura batter, pineapple and smashed avocado over a bed of toasted sourdough. Their Insta-worthy thick shakes ($10 each) also draw in the crowds, with flavours like matcha, malt, peanut butter and salted caramel.
