Three Wombats Café

A café in Balestier’s hostel-central is an appropriate choice for students, especially when the establishment offers cups of strong Italian coffee (from $3.20). A fluffy foccaccia sandwich with plump home-made meatballs and a tropical fruit tea (made with bagged black tea, a tinge of passion-fruit syrup and very little sugar, $4.20) would do wonders for those under-nourished pupils. Caution: those looking to avoid the freshman 15 should pass on the greasy pub fare – pre-battered fish and chips, deep-fried chicken wings and spongy ‘thin-crust’ pizzas spell L-A-ZY – although we’ll admit, sometimes these are all you crave when cramming for that big exam.
