Kelly Koh and Willy Sng are two local dudes who share a fondness for big-flavoured dawgs typical of the US. After a particularly epiphanic encounter with a hot dog along Venice Beach, the pair thought to bring the much-loved American street food back home for Singaporeans to enjoy. The result is The Mustard Incident, a hole-in-the-wall on the basement level of TANGS serving a modest menu of six options. There’s a good mix of classic all-American dogs like the Coney and Chicago dogs, as well as more experimental appetite-whetting frankfurters including the Duck Can Fit and Frank Enstein that’s a half-pork, half-beef creation wrapped in streaky bacon and drenched in beanless chilli, hot sauce and sautéed onions – all dogs are priced between $9 to $10, and can be washed down with a selection of British and Belgian craft brews ($12).
