After endearing itself to a dominantly expat stable of regulars, Lucha Loco naturally gravitates to another enclave for its second outpost. Super Loco at Robertson Quay takes over the corner space once occupied by a dim sum bar, Stacked.
The Robertson Quay branch provides a colourfully themed environment to enjoy the piquant cuisine in. The bright hit of freshness and nose-clearing heat from the Alitas de Pollo ($12), fried chicken wings tossed in a chipotle, red chilli, pickles and lime crema sauce makes for an appetiser that whets the palate.
It won't be a Mexican meal without some tacos and there's no shortage of them here. Try the Taco de Pescado ($10), Achiote marinated snapper served with chipotle mayo, red onion and cucumber salsa or its signature Taco de Cachete y Lengua ($12), barbecued ox tongue and cheek topped with pickled slaw and drizzled with extra spicy ghost chilli mayo. Consider yourself warned.
Brunch is also a big deal here, with people turning up in droves during the weekend. Expect Mexican equivalents like huevos rancheros, hangover-erasing breakfast steak burritos, Mexican torta sandwiches and Bloody Maria’s to start the weekend extra happy.
