An open secret in north-east Singapore is the food enclave at Jalan Riang, which already boasts Italian restaurant La Pizzaiola, seafood specialists The Cajun Kings, casual bistro The Fat Cat and dessert café Wimbly Lu. New entrant Rokeby fills the gap quite nicely, with its early opening hours, artisan coffee and hearty brunch. Named after a café-lined street in Perth, the laidback, sleepy vibe at this stylish 70-seater is liable to put you in the mood for a cuppa (from $3.50), brewed from a variety of Western Australian beans, and a bite of the Vegemite Downunder – scrambed eggs and cheese on toast ($10.90). There’s dinner too, if you don’t already fancy something from Rokeby’s more exciting neighbours, which features mostly Western staples of burgers ($15.90-$17.90), pastas ($14.90- $17.90) and a ribeye in red wine jus ($25.90).
