Perhaps it’s the rich, cloudy pork bone collagen broth or maybe it’s the plump slices of tender roast pork that attracts an almost permanent lunchtime queue of Japanese families outside this tucked-away ramen hotspot. Either way, they’re hankering for a taste of Santouka’s outstanding Toroniku (roasted pork cheek) ramen in salt, soy sauce, miso and kara-miso (a spicier soybean paste) flavours. As the hottest item on the menu, only 60 portions are available daily. Another item you should not skip out on is a side order of komi tamago (boiled soya flavoured egg), it’s egg-cellent.
Main course $4-$19.50
