Meaning ‘street’ in Japanese, this cosy 15-table restaurant off Tanjong Pagar Road fills the niche for affordable Japanese meal sets. There are two chefs sharing equal billing here, both with solid experience working in hotels – Chef Minami’s latest stint was at Pan Pacific Singapore, while Chef Miyazaki was previously at M Hotel Singapore and Indonesia’s JW Marriott. Here they offer traditional home-cooked Japanese meals like deep-fried oysters, pork cutlets, Michi nabe (chef’s selection of seafood, chicken and vegetable in miso-based broth) and steamed gindara. Meals are offered in sets, with lunches ranging from $10-$18 and dinner sets from $18-$36 (grilled fish, tempora, sukiyaki or sashimi).
