Fitting in perfectly in the traditionally British enclave of Boat Quay (with plenty of other British pubs in the mix), this relaxing 150-seater restaurant and bar is run by (no surprises here) Londoner Eddie McGee, whose claim to fame is his creative take on British fare – hearty classics like the steak & chips ($20) and fish and mushy peas ($20), complemented by fun sides such as the East End Skinheads ($8) – potato skins with bacon, melted cheese and sour cream. There are three separate areas to chill out after a hard day’s work – an alfresco setting overlooking the river, an indoor second-floor lounge and the main bar, where you can drink yourself silly over the selection of 30 draft beers (from $12/pint, $30/jug). McGee also serves up an easy-on-the-wallet two-course set lunch for just $10.50 ($13 if you add dessert), which changes every other day.
