You have to love a café that claims to serve ‘honest to goodness home cooked food, healthy salads and plenty of smiles’. The Nutella cupcakes and flourless almond cakes at the entrance are a good start, and the compact menu is warmed by dishes inspired by local ingredients. There’s slowroasted shredded pork, crisp pork crackle and a sweet potato sandwich drizzled with barbecue sauce; lychee and sage freeze; a Chinese Caesar salad of ginger poached chicken, sesame soy dressing and dark soya-braised eggs; and a silky shiitake mushroom fennel soup. No service charges or GST. Main courses from $6.50
